Outdoor believes this is a way for us to give back something to the communities, and we are proud to be part of the Sober or Slammer campaign in South Carolina.

We hope that this campaign will make those who do have adult beverages think about what they are doing and have a designated driver so that more kids are not killed like these!

Our hearts go out to the parents of these children and to everyone that has lost a loved one when it could have been prevented.

Businesses that are sellers of small ticket items should benefit.  The tax cut will put a small amount extra in the paychecks of a lot of working people.  Most likely most of this little bit extra will be spent.  Retailers, fast food and movie rentals are a few that could benefit from this tax cut.

First time home buyers can get a $8,000.00 tax credit if they buy a home.  Home builders and realtors can benefit from this tax credit if they advertise to this demographic.  As we all know they must have good credit to get financing and a down payment as well.  There are buyers out there and they need to know where they can find that first home of their dreams.  Obviously this will not revive the housing market by itself but it is a bright spot if you target these buyers with outdoor advertising.

College students will be able to use 529 college savings to purchase a computer, software and internet access.  The winners will be the sellers of computers and software and the with students being very mobile there is no better way to get your message out than with outdoor advertising.  Outdoor can target the area’s where students live, drive to class and the campus too!

As I begin to think about what should be covered in this blog my mind explodes with ideas. Advertising is such a diverse and creative media providing so many streets and avenues to explore. Primarily, outdoor advertising will be the topic of discussion, however out of home media and others will also be covered. Outdoor advertising has many types of billboards that are seen beside our highways and byways. Billboards are large, billboards are small, billboards are electronic, billboards have lights, billboards are reflective, billboards are posters, billboards are different sizes, billboards are out of home media, and more.

Other topics of discussion will be the creative art for billboards. What is good art, what is not, color, photos, and other creative ideas. What markets in South Carolina have outdoor advertising coverage and the demographics of those Micropolitan markets. What is a Micropolitan market? Outdoor advertising news will be included when new ideas in out of home media are reported and items that are affecting our industry should be discussed.
